The West
Otorongo - Great Jaguar
The setting sun. Today must die so tomorrow may be born.
In the West, the archetype is Otorongo, the jaguar, who fears no one and nothing. She guides you across the rainbow bridge and through the veil, so you can become friends with death instead of fearing it. She teaches you to move through transition and change the way she moves through the world, leaping gracefully from boulder to boulder.
This direction asks you to own and honor your family and your cultural heritage, while letting go of the parts that no longer serve you. Many students build an ancestor altar here, both to honor those who came before and to keep them in front of you, so their unresolved patterns do not run amok in other parts of your life.
The work of the West is to shed the patterns of living, and of dying, that you inherited from your biological family and that keep you from living your best life. You will receive your first rite of initiation into the Q'ero lineage.
Rites of The West
Pampa Mesayok, The High Mesa Rite
Your first deep, direct connection to the lineage of stone altars that came before you. The Mesa begins to hold rites on the shaman's behalf. This is where you begin to step into real stewardship of the earth and the wisdom carried by everyone who walked this path before you.
If the West is calling you, there may be a family pattern ready to be released.
